As we approach our 100 th anniversary, we’re reminded of our founder, Margarete Dessoff’s leadership – offering concerts that included seldom heard secular and sacred choral literature, rediscovered music from earlier times and new works by young composers. When she retired from professional life in 1936, the New York Times recognized her work as setting the trend for choral culture and a cappella singing in the United States.
