Virtual Auditions!

The Dessoff Choirs, one of New York City’s leading choruses and known for pioneering performances of choral works from the pre-Baroque era through the 21st century, is holding virtual auditions for its 2020-21 season on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Under the baton of Malcom J. Merriweather, music director, the choir of about 55 voices will present a hybrid season beginning with virtual performances, a virtual Messiah Sing and much more. Members will be delighted to participate in “Dessoff Dialogue,” a series of conversations that examines and celebrates the choral art. The choir plans to present the New York premiere of Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard in June 2021.

Audition requirements:

- You do not need to bring a prepared piece.
- Vocalises
- Pitch memory exercise
- Sight reading
- Text recitation (French, German, Latin)

Rehearsals are Monday evenings, 7-8:30 PM virtually and then 7-10 on the Upper East Side when it is safe to meet in person. To schedule an audition, contact auditions@dessoff.org.
