The Dessoff Choirs ushers in the winter solstice with excerpts from Margaret Bonds’s The Ballad of the Brown King, a holiday cantata focusing on Balthazar of the Three Kings, and seasonal repertoire including your favorite carols. Music Director, Malcolm J. Merriweather, will be joined by soprano, Laquita Mitchell, where they will talk about their favorite carols and talk about making the world premiere recording of The Ballad of the Brown King. Plus, they will take requests from you for your favorite carols! The carol sing will conclude with Silent Night by candlelight and a newly recorded virtual “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. Welcome Yule is the perfect way to shepherd in the holiday spirit.
